  1. Thank you very much for a really good review Erik. I enjoyed Colt's course a lot because he introduces a quite wide full-stack project (called YelpCamp) throughout more or less the entire course while he teaches you the various sections, giving you the possibility to comprehend how to link all the various tools used in web development each other, which I think is quite important if you want to succeed in building web apps.

  2. Thanks for the nice review. The two courses are similar. I just purchased colt Steele's course. The one reason is there are several subtitles I can choose on colt Steele's course.

  3. As I have both, I like Angel's course a slight bit more because of the extra updating content. I also have her iOS course and its in a similar in how it is set up with the same quality I agree that there needs to be a section in either one about Vue, as I am sick of seeing all React intros in tutorials right now. Great Review!

  4. Andrei Neagoie also has a beginner course. It’s an interesting take on the beginner web developer course. The first one is kinda like the traditional beginner course but is react focused and only uses a tiny bit of jQuery.

The second one is a Junior to Senior and role plays as though you are new to a company and your boss is asking for certain projects, upgrades and technologies.

I think the reason why teachers still include jquery is because, although it is on the decline, there are still a lot of jobs that use jQuery and may require you to learn it along with React, Angular, and Vue

  5. I honestly would like more beginner courses should include design. When you become a web developer/Front End developer, it becomes very important to be able to understand design, typography, etc when working with clients and other UI and UX designers…or even when you want to freelance.

  6. Erik I really appreciate your review, it was very useful for me. Keep making these reviews of popular courses! Does she (or her teaching assistants) answer all questions on Q&A? That's very important for me to decide whether or not enrol her course.

  7. Thank you so much for this great review! I think I would go Angela's course if I could only pick one. But I think eventually I'll end up to take both. I don't have a suggestion for a review as I'm a beginner, but having these 2 courses as a reference, maybe you could do a review of a Udemy course that you think should be the next course a beginner should take after taking one or both of the courses. A Udemy course instructor that I think has a very good reputation is Jonas Schmedtmann, so maybe a review of his course "Advanced CSS and Sass: Flexbox, Grid, Animations and More!", to complement the CSS learn in the prior 2 courses specifically for beginners who want to become better in the Front End. But I also heard his course "The Complete JavaScript Course 2018: Build Real Projects!" is also a very good JavaScript course. If you could do a review about any of his 2 courses, I'd eat popcorn watching it :'D

  8. I've taken Colt Steel's course, it was an awesome introduction to the web development world. Angla is also an Awesome instructor and did a great job in breaking down the concepts. As you mentioned, I'd have loved to see a react section. This isn't a problem for me considering that I have react course for both Brad Traversy and Mosh Hamdani. You can't go wrong taking the combination of these instructors. I found that you usually need points from more than one educator to get the best outcome.

  9. I think you're spot on with your assessment, I was looking through the modules of her course and I noticed the same thing; she teaches the basics of CSS and then goes directly to Bootstrap without teaching responsive web design through just CSS first. Colt Steele does the same thing. I think it's important to build a responsive website from scratch through just CSS before moving onto front-end frameworks.

  10. I personally like Udemy courses that are more project based because it gives me a chance to practice the material. I’ll have to check out Angela’s course because I need to improve my web design skills.

  11. I’m about halfway through Angela’s. I use it to supplement another class I’m taking but I’ve learned a ton from it so far. I own Colt’s as well but it seems like his content is bit different.

  12. Thanks for the review. Subscribed. Took Angela’s course. Enjoyed it! Playing videos on 1,5x though. Sounds nicer for me and overall it’s “quite my tempo” 🙂
Will probably take Colts one next. Maybe just some sections that Angela’s course didn’t have.

  13. I have taken courses from both instructors in the past. I like colt Steele’s illustrations of concept better but I don’t think that should take away from the awesome classes that Angela produces. The one thing I’ll point out about colt Steele’s class that is mentioned in this bidder is that it needs to be updated. I tried going back this fall to build yelpcamp again and it requires a lot of documentation searching, which I understand is part of professional programming but very frustrating when you’re new. Thanks for the great review!

  14. Thanks Erik, nice review. I've taken Colts courses, his advanced bootcamp was good as well, despite the other instructors. I didn't mind having them. I know a lot of reviews didn't like them and said they felt very scripted, but the info was good none the less. Andrei Neagoie's courses are well done as well. His zero to mastery course is always getting little updates and the community is very active. His junior to senior developers course is also good. " the design side of things, Jonas Schmedtmanns advanced css and sass course is really good too.
